Val du Charron was founded in 2010 after the artist spent time living in the Boland town of Wellington. Upon returning to Gauteng and settling on a smallholding, the family name “Brand” gave birth to Val du Charron as a household and creative identity.

The pseudo-artist name  Val du Charron was derived from the French translation of the Boland town in the Western Cape, meaning Valley of the Wagon Makers.

Over time, the artist’s daughters joined the journey, helping to grow, carry, and develop what became a strong family business.

Since 2025, Robyn has remained at the helm, dedicated to building and nurturing the brand with a vision for a meaningful and sustainable future.

All products are inspired by the artist’s life, experiences, and deep love for South Africa.

Today, our team continues to handcraft each piece with care and intention from our studio workshop in Heatherdale, Pretoria
